Stone Platform

This piece of terrain was not built by me, but by a fellow member of our game group. He liked the idea of being able to make a Round structure from scratch. He wanted to see if it was possible.

He spent a great amount of time creating the circle base and the cylindrical columns.  The base is approximately 12″ across and is 1″ thick construction foam.  The columns were made out of scraps and sculpted and sanded to obtain the look you see in the picture.

All of the stone impressions are done using a ball-point pen and are hand drawn onto the foam.  This adds depth and a faux level of reality to the terrain piece.  Then all of the items are attached to the round base by using toothpicks and white glue (PVA Glue).

After the glue dries it’s time for painting. The base-coat is black, the first coat of grey is a heavily dry brushed dark gray, the second coat is a medium dry brushed coat of a lighter gray color and the last coat is a light dry brush of white. In the end you have a stone platform that provides elevation and cover for you or your opponent.
